Are there strategies to slow down? Or is slowing down I’ll-advised?

Such a great question, Andrea – and one I think a lot of us wrestle with, especially when our bodies are sending signals we’ve learned to override.

Slowing down isn’t ill-advised at all. In a lot of cases, it’s actually the smartest thing we can do – especially if we’re trying to prevent burnout or rebuild some trust with ourselves. That said, it doesn’t always mean doing less. Sometimes it just means being more intentional about how and where we’re spending our energy.

In fast-paced work environments, you might not be able to change the overall culture – but you can shift your own pace, even a little. Things like:

- Taking 30 seconds before replying to a request

- Giving yourself a tiny break between meetings, even if it’s just standing up and stretching

- Doing one thing at a time, even when everything feels urgent

- Noticing how your body feels when you resist the urge to rush

They’re small things, but they can add up. Thanks again for reading and asking such a thoughtful question.
