I’m a Sentinel personality type – someone who values structure, consistency, and systems. (Oh my! 😍)

When working with others, there’s one tendency that I’m watching for above almost everything else: one’s ability to work within my established frameworks while demonstrating reliable execution. That’s my love language in the workplace. I fully encourage team members to put their own unique spin on a system, but changing it altogether without a compelling reason? That’s a quick way to make me uncomfortable.

All Sentinel personalities – ISTJs (Logisticians), ISFJs (Defenders), ESTJs (Executives), and ESFJs (Consuls) – share this deep appreciation for procedures, order, and tradition. But assuming all Sentinel bosses are the same would be a mistake. Each type brings their own distinct flavor to leadership, and knowing these differences can transform your working relationship from merely functional to genuinely collaborative.

Today, we’ll explore how to spot and manage up to a Sentinel boss. Then, we’ll dive into the nuances of each Sentinel personality type. Let’s get into it!
