Change leadership – the ability to successfully guide your team through workplace changes – is now more crucial than ever. In this change leadership series, we’ll explore the best strategies for leading all 16 personality types through transitions, so you and your team can emerge stronger.

Do you lead an Explorer (ISTP | ISFP | ESTP | ESFP)?

Explorers include all personality types who share the Observant and Prospecting personality traits. They’re spontaneous and can deeply connect with their surroundings. Utilitarian and practical, they shine in situations that require quick reactions and the ability to think on your feet. They’re masters of tools and techniques.

Explorer personality types (ISTP | ISFP | ESTP | ESFP) are adventurous, adaptable individuals who are always ready for something new. They thrive on the excitement that comes with change, but that doesn’t mean they’re immune to change challenges.

Understanding how to harness Explorers’ natural enthusiasm for change while addressing potential pitfalls that might hold them back is crucial. Today, we’ll cover how to keep these dynamic go-getters engaged and productive when change comes knocking at your door.

Let’s dive in!

Later this week, we’ll discuss each Explorer personality type separately, examining their unique strengths and challenges in the face of change and identifying the best leadership approaches for each.

How Explorers React to Change

Explorers are known for their love of novelty and their ability to adapt quickly to new situations. When change is announced, they may be the first to embrace it, seeing it as an exciting opportunity to learn and grow – sometimes at the expense of what is familiar, loved, and working well.

However, Explorers can also become restless if the change process drags on too long or if they feel stifled by rigid procedures. They may start to lose interest or become frustrated if they don’t have enough freedom to put their own spin on things.

Tip: Pay attention to your Explorers’ energy levels and engagement during times of change. If you notice them becoming bored or disengaged, it may be time to give them more autonomy or involve them in problem-solving.
