Emotionally intelligent leadership is about meeting people where they’re at rather than expecting them to meet you. This emotionally intelligent leadership series will help you understand the unique positions and perspectives of all 16 personality types and provide tactical tips and advice to meet them there.

Do you lead an INFP (Mediator)?

INFPs (Mediators) share the Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Prospecting personality traits. They prioritize harmony and ensure that everyone feels heard. They often act as peacemakers in emotionally charged situations, using empathy to find common ground and resolve conflicts. Their ability to see multiple perspectives is a strength, but they may struggle with setting boundaries or making decisions that could disappoint others. INFPs’ sensitivity can sometimes lead to taking things personally or feeling overwhelmed by negative emotions.

At first, leading INFP personalities (Mediators) can sometimes feel like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. These individuals may struggle to find their place in traditional corporate environments that prioritize aggressive competition and rigid hierarchies.

But beneath their reserved exterior lies a wealth of creativity, empathy, and insight that’s waiting to be tapped. INFPs think outside the box, ask the tough questions, challenge the status quo, and push for ethical solutions, always striving to do the right thing and make a positive impact – if you look and listen closely enough.

By leading INFPs in an emotionally intelligent way, you can create an environment where they thrive and bring their best selves to work every day. Let’s dive in!
